Training of Trainers on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in Balochistan

The month-long training for trainers on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to improve Apple production, was organized by UNIDO under PAFAID funded by JICA, has concluded on 10 December 2021.

A follow up 5-day in person session of ToT on GAP which was led by international Expert Ms. Jenna Wijngaarde was held in Quetta, Balochistan province, from 6-10 December 2021.

The larger impacts of this initiative are adding value to apple production through good agriculture practices and food safety in the province. The master trainers are now able to further train the farmers on crop protection, safe use of pesticides and food hygiene and traceability from seven districts of Balochistan province including Quetta, Pishin, Killa Abdullah, Killa Saifullah, Ziarat, Mastung, and Kalat.

The concluding session was chaired by Mr. Masoud Ahmed Baloch, DG Agriculture Extension Department, Government of Balochistan and Mr. Mohammad Nadeem Irshad, Director Head Quarter, Agriculture Extension Department, Government of Balochistan.

Addressing the attendees, Mr. Masoud Ahmed Baloch extended his gratitude to UNIDO and JICA for organizing beneficial training for the officials of Agriculture Extension Department, Government of Balochistan. He added that now it’s the responsibility of all the trainees to impart this knowledge among the farmers.

Mr. Mohammad Nadeem Irshad, Director Head Quarter Agriculture Extension Department, Government of Balochistan, appreciated the joint efforts of UNIDO and JICA for the food safety in Balochistan province through this initiative.

A post training survey was carried out which reflects that the trainees were satisfied with the content of the training, their knowledge has improved and the training delivered satisfactory.
