UNIDO under PAFAID is enhancing the agriculture production in Balochistan through training on Good Agriculture practices

8 – 12 November 2021: Training of Trainers on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to improve apple production in Balochistan province was organized by UNIDO under PAFAID.

An international expert Ms. Jenna Wijngaarde delivered the technical session remotely via zoom while the training was held in person at National Institute of Management Quetta in Balochistan province. It was attended by a group of Master Trainers from Agriculture Extension Department, Government of Balochistan, who have been trained to coachthe farmers in implementing GAP guidelines on their apple farm.

The training imparted the understanding and application of the GAP guidelines for apple production and handling which will enable the attendees to further build the capacity of farmers on crop protection, safe use of pesticides, food hygiene and traceability to improve the apple production at farm level. The training was attended by 19 participants including four women Agriculture Extension professionals. At the end of the training, the attendees which were 19 in total including four women professionals were given tasks to compete remotely. A knowledge sharing group was also formed to connect the participants with the experts. A follow up training will be held with a month’s gap to further strengthen the skills of the trainees.
