UNIDO Recognizes Balochistan’s Apple Farmers for Embracing Sustainable Agriculture Practices

At UNIDO, we are thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of the Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) competition where we celebrated the widespread adoption of GAP under the Project for Agri-Food and Agro-Industry Development Assistance in Pakistan (PAFAID) funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This momentous event was made possible through the support of the Department of Agriculture & Cooperative Government of Balochistan.

The ceremony highlighted the outstanding accomplishments of apple farmers who have embraced sustainable farming methods. Chaired by Muneer Ahmed Shahwani —MPA and President, Balochistan Horticulture Cooperative Society, the event recognized and awarded winners of the farmer competition with farmer toolkits which includes 20 women and 50 men farmers from seven districts of Balochistan province.

We extend our appreciation to Mr. Muhammad Asif Khan —Director, Balochistan Food Authority, Ms. Dur e Seemi —Director Agriculture Extension, Women Division, and Kazim Khan Achakzai—Secretary, Balochistan Horticulture Cooperative Society, for acknowledging the efforts of UNIDO’s PAFAID project in promoting GAP, particularly in the Apple value chain in Balochistan province.
